Just Thawed Out...

A few weeks since my last Blog and quite a lot has happened in the meantime. We've been to New York for a long weekend and it was very pleasant ifa little cold. It gave us the chance to visit some of the places we didn't get to see last time we went including ; The Rocafellar Centre (top of) Grand Central Station, Ground Zero (need I say anymore) and Greenwich Village.

Old favourites revisted included 5th Avenue and there was a visit to Tiffanys for Carol to buy an overdue Christmas Bonus Treat. I sort of got mine before I went I bought a really nice point and shoot Canon G9 to take with me and I'm quite pleased with the results. It's certainly lighter than the 5D but I won't be selling it just yet as I like playing with the lenses.

Finished the decorating at last!!! well almost but nothing to worry me apart from a few odds and ends - you know the ones that cost much more than you expect. As for the cost so far well I'm not even going there.

This took us up to Saturday and on Sunday it was a 2 day break in London. Sunday was the Tutenkhamun exhibition at the O2 and Monday we did St Pauls Cathedral (am) and the Terracotta Warriors at the British museum (pm) Travelled back on the evening via the luxury that is First Great Western.

Then it was back to work after (my) week off.

Looking forward the weather is starting to improve (isn't it?) and thoughts are turning to sailing. The Durleigh club is going through a small crisis at the moment and there is a special meeting on the 17th February to discuss the club's future. It gives me the opportunity to take a look at my boat which i haven't seen since August last year and bring it back home for a spring clean prior to the start of the season. To celebrate this I have bought a new set of sails so I hope to move up the racing order this year. I plan to visit the Dinghy show too so I need to find out if I need an bits and bobs from there too.

Carol's job is going well and the journey to Trowbridge is still a pain but bearable (I think). Work has eased off a little but still reasonably busy which is good.

The Gym as been a little more sporadic than I would like of late but I'm getting back into a pattern with that and the squash too.

The new PC is working well and the difference in the speed is noticeable especially with the 64 bit system making the most of the additional RAM.

Good old Barney is showing some signs of age at 12.5 (87) years old and its getting increasingly difficult to get hime out of bed in the morning especially at 05.10 when we go on our first walk.

Thats about it I think - some piccies of New York and London to follow...
