Catch up after a long absence

Yes it has been a while, due to a number of things really not least having not too much to say. More than half way through November now and Christmas is getting close and for the first time in ages I'm ready for it, having done all of my Christmas shopping already - yes it's sad isn't it?

That's because December is due to be a busy month both for work and at home. W/E 03/12/2007 sees me probably witnessing some generator tests for work and I'm taking the opportunity to pop in to see my mom at the same time. the following wee we are going for a weekend "up North" to Chester on the Saturday and then Manchester Trafford Centre on Sunday.

The weekend after we are due to be visited by Carol's Mom and Dad - they actually arrive on the Wednesday before - and it will be time for the exchange of presents and cards before Christmas.

So that means Christmas at home this year with a trip to the Surma on Christmas day with our friends and then just about a week and half's holiday through to the New Year.

There's plenty more to come too - with Carol's graduation in early January and New York in late January.

Carol has had a difficult few months since starting her new job, not least her recent (temporary) problem with high blood pressure and a slight heart murmur. The traveling to Trowbridge doesn't help but she is now doing more work from home and that helps. The job (in Carol's words) is brilliant and if it were closer then it would be perfect. The main thing is that she is getting the post graduation experience she needs for the next move. Still you never know what's around the corner so watch this space.

We decided that redecoration of the dining room was in order and a possible change of use too. At the moment we still at the preparation stage and choosing colours etc. I have an interesting idea for the room but still to be approved.

We have been buying some toys - Carol had an Ipod Touch a few weeks ago and I am still loading music onto it. Nothing for me though I am playing around with Vista 64 bit with a possible view to upgrading the computer in the new year.

Generally life is good at the moment though - the winter is always a bit of downer for me dark mornings and nights seem to tire me out more. The Christmas holiday will be certainly be welcome as I can't see me taking a break beforehand.

Now with BT broadband and so far it seems fine. Newnet was great but the limitation on downloads was becoming a bit of a pain so I tentatively swapped over. Sailing has been put on hold for the winter although I must go and take a look at the boat as soon as I have the chance. Don;t think it will get repainted this year - perhaps just a touch up.
