Happy Little Blogger

This is my first try out of the blogging tool that Boff mentioned in his recent blog. It allows you to insert pictures but I am still to figure that one out There is also the option to create a link to picture on a web site but I haven't done that yet either.

Carol's Birthday Weekend

As I write this its hammering down with rain and there is the distinct sound of thunder in the air - well it is Summer and to be more accurate the 19th June 2007 - Carol's Birthday. For Carol today has actually been a bit of anti climax as the preceeding weekend was the main event when we went down to London for a couple of days.

Friday was the personal shopper experience at Debenhams followed by a very nice meal at Carluccio's italian restaurant in Ealing. Saturday we caught the trooping of the colour at Lizzies place and then on to the Globe Theatre on the South Bank for a performance of the Merchant of Venice - which despite my slight trepidation was actually very good indeed. We were tired by Saturday evening and so it was a Wetherspoon's experience for a few drinks and something to eat before an early night.

Sunday was the day we were coming back but plenty of time to do stuff before then. Starting with a walk from Regents Park to the London eye we finally got to take the flight and also see the 25th anniversary service of the Falklands war - very touching and quite humbling to see all those old Veterans and think of the ones who didn't make it back. On the way down to the eye we spotted a street fair in Marylebone High Street so it was a steady walk back past there to soak up the atmosphere.

The train Journey gave us the opportunity to recharge the batteries and we ended the day with a curry and slightly too much to drink - but heh no school the next day so who cares!!!

So quite a weekend and I think Carol liked it(?)

The other news is that although it's Carol's Birthday today it's me that has had the present. I have been toying with the idea of buying another DSLR for a while now or at least a lens but you know how I'm a sucker for a deal and Canon are giving cash back on the EOS 5D + 24-105 L IS USM lens so now I'm the proud owner of both !!!

Finally got a call from Elaine (my Sailing Partner) this morning that she has broken her ankle and will be in plaster for the next 8-10 weeks - bugger!! Looks like I'll be looking for a new sailing partner this season.

I think that's all - if that wern't enough I suppose, work tomorrow but I have Thursday and Friday off hope the weather gets better for the weekend.

Sunshine, boats and Squash

Well it looks like the Summer is finally starting to arrive and as I write this it's set to be fair for today - so long as it doesn't thunder. Again and as usual its been a while since I last blogged (sounds like a confessional) as there hasn't really been much to talk about.

Following a really good days sailing last week I decided that I might look toward upgrading my boat- nothing wrong with the old one mind you but there you go. I saw a Comet Duo advertised in the internet classifieds and called them to find out that it was still for sale and quite local too. Well it was a week of anticipation until Saturday when I saw the boat and was frankly very disapointed as it was a particularly poor example of the Marque and quite expensive too, so it looks like sticking with the Miracle for a while yet.

Squash is a hot & tiring game this time of year but it doesn't stop Tony and I playing though. The issue here though has been the problem with getting a 5.20 pm court at the local leisure centre where there seems to be a local arangement to close early on Saturday evenings. A slightly protracted round of emails to the Council seems to have fixed that and now (amazingly) the courts are bookable at 5.20 pm.

There is a short but busy week coming up as Carol and I are going away this weekend for a few days. Obviously I can't say what is happening here but you can catch it on the next blog
