Carol's Birthday Weekend

As I write this its hammering down with rain and there is the distinct sound of thunder in the air - well it is Summer and to be more accurate the 19th June 2007 - Carol's Birthday. For Carol today has actually been a bit of anti climax as the preceeding weekend was the main event when we went down to London for a couple of days.

Friday was the personal shopper experience at Debenhams followed by a very nice meal at Carluccio's italian restaurant in Ealing. Saturday we caught the trooping of the colour at Lizzies place and then on to the Globe Theatre on the South Bank for a performance of the Merchant of Venice - which despite my slight trepidation was actually very good indeed. We were tired by Saturday evening and so it was a Wetherspoon's experience for a few drinks and something to eat before an early night.

Sunday was the day we were coming back but plenty of time to do stuff before then. Starting with a walk from Regents Park to the London eye we finally got to take the flight and also see the 25th anniversary service of the Falklands war - very touching and quite humbling to see all those old Veterans and think of the ones who didn't make it back. On the way down to the eye we spotted a street fair in Marylebone High Street so it was a steady walk back past there to soak up the atmosphere.

The train Journey gave us the opportunity to recharge the batteries and we ended the day with a curry and slightly too much to drink - but heh no school the next day so who cares!!!

So quite a weekend and I think Carol liked it(?)

The other news is that although it's Carol's Birthday today it's me that has had the present. I have been toying with the idea of buying another DSLR for a while now or at least a lens but you know how I'm a sucker for a deal and Canon are giving cash back on the EOS 5D + 24-105 L IS USM lens so now I'm the proud owner of both !!!

Finally got a call from Elaine (my Sailing Partner) this morning that she has broken her ankle and will be in plaster for the next 8-10 weeks - bugger!! Looks like I'll be looking for a new sailing partner this season.

I think that's all - if that wern't enough I suppose, work tomorrow but I have Thursday and Friday off hope the weather gets better for the weekend.
